Practice what you preach...

Yesterday Christian Löken started reflecting on sustainabiity and how far we should practice it. If we want to act 100% sustainable then we cannot fullfill our project. Because in the end, the four of us flying to either Brazil or Malaysia will result in cardon dioxide emissions which equal a cost of 1450 danish kroner of trees (calculated using the "emission calculator on www.dn.se/kollaresan) in order to equalize the effect on the environment and global warming.

Although we already were aware of this, we felt demotivated. So we started doing an informal SWOT analysis regarding our project in relation to the effect on the environment. From this we realized that the outcome of our project will have greater positive effects than the negative ones on the environment. Furtermore, we would off course like to pay back the 1450 kr which our flight cost the environment. We thought we could do this by planting trees when we return to Århus.

This idea then developed into a marketing idea where we could sell the trees' leaves to companies. We see this as a win-win-win, since the company is then seen as sociala reponsible as they are taking action towards the effects on the environment, we get the money for our project, and the environment wins. A fifth solution in other words!

Regardless if we end up selling "leaves" or other sponsor-products, we see it as a great solution to obtain the necessary funds for our project.

In short, when Christian reflected about our own behavior and mindset resulted in a great marketing idea which agrees with our values and mindset!
